The collections you see now are all ordinals collections hoping to tap into BRC 2.0 and give holders the tokens by 14th August. Timeline 14th August - 6 byte ticker 17th September - old brc -20 tokens become programmable. Alkanes brings smart contract capabilities on Bitcoin and BRC 2.0 aims to do something similar but we can only see how well it works from August 14th.
